Serving Scottsdale, Arizona
Senior placement in Scottsdale
Scottsdale has the highest share of residents 65 and older of any city we serve — roughly double Glendale’s or Chandler’s. ALTCS and low-income placement matter here as much as anywhere else.
Of the seven incorporated cities we work in, Scottsdale has the largest senior population by share — 26.4% of its estimated 243,006 residents are 65 or older, against just 13.9% under 18. Scottsdale’s reputation runs toward resorts and golf, but a huge number of families here are managing exactly the same hospital discharges, memory-care searches, and ALTCS questions as anywhere else in the Valley. We handle both the private-pay side and the Medicaid side.
Hospital-level care, all inside the city
HonorHealth runs three hospital campuses in Scottsdale, and it’s worth being precise about two things people commonly get wrong: Mayo Clinic’s Arizona hospital is in Phoenix, not Scottsdale — its Scottsdale campus is outpatient — and “Abrazo Scottsdale Campus” is not actually located in Scottsdale. The real hospital-level care here is HonorHealth’s.
- Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, 7400 E. Osborn Rd — 303 beds, an ACS-verified Level 1 trauma center, a Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, a Certified Cardiac Arrest Center, the Bob Bové Neuroscience Institute, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and wound care with hyperbaric treatment.
- Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, 9003 E. Shea Blvd — 427 beds, a designated Primary Stroke Center, a total joint replacement centre, and the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center.
- Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center, 7400 E. Thompson Peak Pkwy — 120 beds, a Certified Chest Pain Center, and minimally invasive and robotic orthopedics, joint replacement, and spine surgery.
Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Scottsdale, 52 beds on E. Shea Blvd, treats stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopedic and hip recovery, amputation, Parkinson’s, pulmonary conditions, cancer, and polytrauma — often the step between one of the hospitals above and a decision about long-term placement.
The deepest skilled nursing cluster of the seven cities
Scottsdale has more licensed nursing care facilities than any other city we serve, including Advance Health Care of Scottsdale, Haven of Scottsdale, Heritage Court Post Acute, Life Care Center of Scottsdale, Scottsdale Village Square, The Gardens of Scottsdale, and Santé of North Scottsdale. That depth is genuinely useful when a family needs options fast, but it also means the search benefits from someone who already knows which of those facilities has room, and on what terms.
An unusually deep city resource: two senior centres with in-house social workers
Granite Reef Senior Center
(480) 312-1700. Free case management from a Masters-level social worker, information and referral, home visit assessments, benefits consultation, meals, medical equipment loans, tax prep help, and support groups.
Via Linda Senior Center
10440 E. Via Linda · (480) 312-5810. The same range of services — case management, home visit assessments, home-delivered and congregate meals, and support groups for grief, Alzheimer’s, caregiving, Parkinson’s, MS, heart conditions, and vision loss.
This is worth telling families directly: it’s an unusually deep municipal offering, and a home visit assessment from a Masters-level social worker is a genuinely good, free second opinion alongside whatever plan we help build.
ALTCS and low-income placement in Scottsdale
Don’t assume Scottsdale is a private-pay-only city. We place ALTCS and low-income families here regularly, and specialise in exactly the hospital and skilled-nursing discharge referrals described above. Read our ALTCS and Medicaid guide, and if a HonorHealth or rehab discharge date is moving faster than expected, our urgent placement service is built for that. Discharge planners can find what we need on our page for healthcare professionals.
Isn’t Scottsdale too expensive for ALTCS families?
No. Reputation and availability are two different things — we regularly place ALTCS and low-income families in and around Scottsdale, and can tell you honestly where that’s realistic and where it isn’t.
Is Mayo Clinic’s hospital in Scottsdale?
No — Mayo Clinic’s Arizona hospital is in Phoenix. The Scottsdale campus is outpatient only.
